Trainspotting - Danny Boyle

The unemployed Mark Renton tries, together with his heroin-addicted 'friends', to make something of daily life in Edinburgh. Their days consist mainly of drinking beer, going out, using drugs, and playing football. Yet, Renton tries to break free from his destructive lifestyle and the harmful influence of his circle of friends. To the beats of Underworld's 'Born Slippy', Iggy Pops 'Lust for Life', you are pulled into the dark-hilarious drug world of the friends, only to pop out again via the 'filthiest toilet in Scotland'. When Toen Trainspotting was released in 1996, the film hit like a bombshell. The intense rawness, the absence of the moralizing finger, the black humor, the brilliant soundtrack, and the legendary 'Choose Life' opening scene were unseen. The film is 30 years old this year, reason enough to take it out of the closet once again.
