Met de Hagelandgidsen on the go. Helen-Bos. Through the land of two rivers of Zo

WZC De Vesten, Zoutleeuw
Free
Who has ever heard of the village of Bos, a small village in the shadow of Zoutleeuw located between the Kleine and the Grote Gete? Until 1794 it was a hamlet of this city, but the French, together with Helen, made it an independent municipality with fewer than a hundred inhabitants. In the village center stands the beautiful little church of O.L.Vrouw der Zeven Weeën. Around it grew the monastic community of the Zeven Smarten ten Bossche. Exceptionally, we can visit the church on this walk. Our steps follow the fertile fields and some remarkable gems of this evocative land of two rivers. Do you know the 'fruit trail'? Did you know that the remarkable Bethany Chapel belonged to the nunnery of the same name? And that the gigantic cross-barn Boswinning only had one threshing floor? Bos? A gem in Moist Haspengouw! Important . We are not leaving from the church as is often the case, but we are starting in the shadow of the city of Zoutleeuw, at WZC De Vesten. There is parking here. And the nearby market invites you for a refreshing pint on this summer day. Departure and end: WZC De Vesten, Vestendreef 1, 3440 Zoutleeuw Departure: 2:00 PM Walking shoes are always useful. There is parking available. Distance +/- 6 km Duration: 2 hours Base rate: 5 Euro. Children up to 12 years: free.
