If the walls could talk

Will Tura, the emperor of Flemish song. But he is so much more than that. A monument, Gert Verhulst rightly calls him. For more than 65 years, he has colored our music history and recorded almost 1,000 songs. Tura was not only an exceptional singer but also a gifted composer. He wrote the majority of his songs himself, often to lyrics by Nelly Byl. His repertoire is surprisingly versatile: from kleinkunst and Dutch-language chansons to cheerful pop, from jazz and gospel to rock 'n' roll, country, and even rap. Precisely that richness makes him such a unique artist and a true phenomenon. Andrea Croonenberghs, Els Dottermans, and Barbara Dex previously brought a brilliant homage to Boudewijn de Groot, to the great joy of the master himself. Three singers, each with their own perspective, but united by their ability to give each song a personal touch, always with respect for the original. Now they bring an ode to Will Tura together and separately. Creative and idiosyncratic, but always warm and full of reverence for the text. Choosing was no sinecure—there is enough material for five theater programs. Therefore, expect an evening full of big hits, but also be surprised by almost forgotten gems.
