De Visbeekvallei is home to a population of special butterflies that only manage to survive in a few places in Flanders, and that is what we are going to look for today. One of these species is the white admiral. This butterfly lives in fairly open forests and along forest edges with wild honeysuckle where shade and sun alternate. The other special species is the purple hairstreak, which is mainly found along forest edges or in thickets with oaks on nutrient-poor sandy soil, where quite a lot of nectar can also be found. Of course, we will also pay attention to the other butterflies we encounter during our walk. Let's hope for butterfly-friendly weather. ,
