Tenor Thomas Blondelle and the Ryelandt Trio go in search of the romantic in Ludwig van Beethoven. His letters show a man of flesh and blood: someone who longed for love, who experienced fiery infatuations, had to deal with rejections, and clung to ideals that rarely became reality. Who were his ‘Mijn Engel, my everything, my me’? Who was hiding behind the ‘unsterbliche Geliebte’? And who was the mysterious Elise? For this performance, the musicians select songs, chamber music, and fragments from Beethoven's correspondence. Thomas Blondelle, known for his expressive voice and his versatility within both opera and song, interprets Beethoven from the inside out and sings his way through his amorous search. Het Ryelandt Trio is known for his refined chamber music playing and his attention to narrative programs.
