Teyrrasfolk: La Ciguë (Baleynbal)

Teyrrasfolk 2026 is a free music festival with six evenings full of pure dance pleasure. Every evening starts with a dance initiation for everyone who wants to loosen up their legs. Folk dancing might seem difficult, but nothing is less true. Thanks to the social character (you rarely dance alone), a fine evening is guaranteed. The programmed music groups belong to the top of their genre. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For the second evening of our festival, we bring a rebellious folk act that makes tradition tremble to the Sint-Nicolaasplein in Sint-Niklaas. It's party time again! La Ciguë brings an idiosyncratic mix of trad, darkwave, and techno. At the intersection of folk and electronics, they create a raw, hypnotic dance experience in which tradition and experiment flow seamlessly into each other. What starts with mysterious, atmospheric sounds grows into pulsating grooves, driven by distorted violin, solid drums, and dark synthesizers. With their own compositions and engaged vocals, they build an intense, almost trance-like atmosphere. La Ciguë places contemporary trad right in the now: energetic, rebellious, and irresistibly danceable.
