Art, a matter of gender? (NL)

Guided tour for individual visitors in the context of the new exhibition ArtxGender: Art and gender stereotypes in the collections of the KMSKB (19.11.2025 > 27.09.2026). Art, a matter of gender? For fifty years, questions surrounding gender have been an important subject within scientific research and public debate. This autumn, we are studying, using selected examples from our collections – from Lucas I Cranach to Evelyne Axell – how images and artworks can reinforce or challenge clichés and stereotypes. Themes such as the couple or the roles and symbolisms attributed to sexes are addressed. A tour to look through the eyes of those who make art and those who view it!
