KFW - Opening - The King's Warden

In the 15th century, under the Joseon dynasty, political tensions reach their peak when the young King Danjong is dethroned by his ambitious uncle and condemned to exile. Banished to Cheongnyeongpo — a remote location in Yeongwol isolated by water —, the fallen monarch arrives ill and heartbroken, stripped of his crown and abandoned by his court. Meanwhile, Eom Heung-do, the dynamic leader of an impoverished village, learns that hosting an exiled noble can bring royal rations and prosperity to his community. Eager to lift his people out of misery, he officially requests to welcome an exile. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that his new host is none other than the young deposed king. What was supposed to be a heavy burden gradually transforms into a deep human bond. As Heung-do and the warm-hearted villagers take care of the young king to restore his health, they offer him what he has never known in the merciless royal palace: sincere affection, dignity, and a true sense of family. But as political threats from the capital draw closer, their haven of peace finds itself facing an inevitable test.
