🔥TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION 2026🔥 in the municipalities of Heers/Gingelom/Sint-Truiden Zondag October 11, 2026, the Friends of the Torchlight Procession are organizing their annual Torchlight Procession, where we commemorate our heroes of WWI and WWII at the monuments of Heers, Gingelom, and Sint-Truiden. Everyone is most welcome at the monuments, see the program in the attachment 👇\n\nProgram at the veterans' monuments:\n\nMorning monuments in Heers:\n\n9:40 AM Heers; 10:10 AM Heks; 10:50 AM Mech-Bovelingen; 11:20 AM Rukkelingen.\n\nAfternoon monuments Sint-Truiden and Gingelom:\n\n1:00 PM Groot-Gelmen; 1:30 PM Ordingen; 2:00 PM Duras; 2:20 PM Runkelen.\n\n3:50 PM Borlo; 4:15 PM Buvingen; 4:40 PM Jeuk; 5:00 PM Boekhout.\n\n\n\nThis torchlight procession is a tradition that dates back to 1928. At that time, the Nationale Strijdersbond van Belgi decided to organize a torchlight procession for the first time in commemoration of the armistice of World War I. Torches, lit at the extreme points of our national borders and carried by veterans, would be transported day and night through villages and cities, from department to department, to Brussels during that procession, ultimately to be extinguished at the fall of evening on November 11 before the Tomb of the Onbekende Soldaat.\n\nEveryone most welcome!!!\n\n Friends of the Fakkeltocht Elie Missotten
