From reed stalks to castles, frolicking along the Woluwe

Sun, 18 Oct 2026 · 14:30
Tram Museum, Brussels
€15
As the last river in the Brusselse Gewest that can be found in the open air, the Woluwe allows us to discover a valley that recalls the origins of the city: marshes, irises, mills... are part of the scenery. From the old priory of Val Duchesse, where the Treaty of Rome was prepared, to the Kapel van Lenneke Mare, a legendary place of pilgrimage, our walk will take roads that bear witness to the development of Brussels under Leopold II and in the sixties… The walk is laid out along prestigious places full of history: the Waucquez castle, the Mellaerts ponds, the Parmentier park, the Domaine de Latriche, the park of Louis Solvay, the Malou castle… and also the Shopping and the cultural center Wolubilis are mentioned, before we settle down on the particularly pleasant terrace of the typical “In den Kwak” café (not included in price). Ah, the green valley! Guided tour in the context of the Slow Ways-weekend, organized by Walk Brussels.
