Theater at the farm: 'FARMERS' by De Nieuwe Bazaaar

Landelijke Gilde Hoeleden invites you and your family to our first theater performance on the farm. The performance is titled 'Boeren' (Farmers). Boeren is a location performance and takes place where farmers work and live. On Saturday, June 13, it will be performed in the shed of Hoeve Renders. The performance is suitable for ages 12 and up. "Boeren" is the story of two farmers' sons. One has taken over the farm and the other has left. They come from a family where no one touches anyone. More silence than speech. There is all sorts of things in the air that are not spoken out loud. Brotherly hatred and brotherly love fight here for balance. That one woman who is not there also plays a role. Farmer's misery.... Moving, beautiful, and fortunately often funny too. Erik Vlaminck, the writer of 'Boeren', knows how to combine social engagement with beautiful literature. In his 'Brieven van Dikke Freddy' he has been denouncing skewed situations and other social injustices for 25 years. The farmers have ended up in that corner today as well. Trapped between the agro-industry, the climate, the law, nature, and their future. What can you do about it? Work... and if that is not enough, work even more. And that goes... until it doesn't go anymore. After the performance, we invite everyone to chat comfortably on our farm terrace with a drink, some fries, and artisanal ice cream.
