Hannah Aldridge grew up on the muddy banks of Muscle Shoals. Her songs find a delicate balance between rebellion and self-discovery: records that soothe like a lullaby and crack like a whip. For those who grew up in the Bible Belt, her music sounds like the voice of an old friend. For those who didn't: an initiation into the dark side of the South, Christian fundamentalism, and the struggle to forge a future in a place haunted by the past. Dochter van Muscle Shoals-legend Walt Aldridge, she started as a classically trained pianist. Only in her early twenties did she pick up a guitar and use music to wrestle with her demons. With a voice that is both gritty and melodic, she has played in ten countries on three continents, with acclaimed albums such as Razor Wire, Gold Rush, and the London-recorded Live in Black and White. She balances between Americana and raw, sometimes electronic noir-indie pop: music for those who want to confront demons without remaining bound to them.
