Vocal Ensemble Duartes. Laulikutele. Choir concert.

In the project ‘Laulikutele’, the piece of the same name by the Estonian composer Ester Mägi is central. ‘Laulikutele’ means something like ‘For the singers’ and is at the same time an ode to life with all its roughness, beauty and sadness as a plea to let life in its complex totality resonate in the music. Duartes takes this call to heart and takes the listener on a special journey through the multicolored nature of human existence. In doing so, the audience itself will also be stimulated to participate in the music-making in all kinds of ways. On the sound carpet that is created in collaboration with the audience, Duartes brings a cappella various gems within the choral repertoire of, among others, Judith Weir, Michael Atherton, Katerina Gimon, Kim André Arnesen and of course also Ester Mägi. In times of hatred and division, Duartes resolutely chooses the side of humanity and connection. By boldly breaking the fourth wall that often stands unbreakably between artist and audience, Duartes wants to bring people together again through music. Because what is life worth – what remains of our humanity – if we do not have each other?
