Open-air exhibition of a monumental textile work

Hill's Line is a work that will be created using natural dyes, about fifty meters long and 1.5 meters high. It will draw new lines in the landscape of the village of Ruette, on its square: a sinuous textile hedge resembling Japanese camp curtains (jinmaku), and featuring - in dye - the imprints of rock faces taken from the old quarries in the forest overlooking the surroundings. These imprints are created through a natural reaction between gallnut and iron sulfate. Every element of the work is designed to be as local, as artisanal, and as environmentally friendly as possible. Hill's Line is imagined to create new circulation, new spaces, alcoves here and there to stop for a moment, to take the time. To look at the lines of the landscapes dyed into the textile, or to observe beyond through the few openings unstitched along the length of the fabric. The installation is designed to awaken everyone's curiosity: towards the rock in the imprints, towards the landscapes that the mineral lines draw here and elsewhere, towards what lies beyond these lines and reliefs, and towards the environment we inhabit.
