Thu, 2 Jul 2026 · 17:00
Grand-Place Brussels, Brussels
On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, the Ommegang wishes to honor this iconic place of Brussels heritage. The cathedral notably houses the famous stained glass windows bearing the effigy of Charles Quint, true witnesses to history and the close link that unites the Emperor to Brussels. In this exceptional setting, Charles Quint accompanied by his guards and several members of his court joins the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. Upon his arrival, from 5 p.m., he will be solemnly welcomed for a moment placed under the sign of history, heritage, and transmission. For an hour, the public will have the opportunity to live a privileged experience in the heart of this exceptional monument, to discover or rediscover the imperial stained glass windows, and to share a unique moment in an atmosphere imbued with history and prestige. An exceptional meeting, open to all, to be experienced freely from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. as part of the Ommegang festivities and the 800th anniversary of the Cathedral.
