Carillon concert: Jasper Depraetere

Especially for July 11, Jasper Depraetere programmed, besides music, 'Van Kempische ground to student city', compositions written by students and teachers of the Mechelen Carillon School. He concludes his concert with a medley of Flemish hits from the past and present, including 'Vlaanderen Boven' by Raymond van het Groenewoud Jasper is the carillonneur of our municipality and deputy city carillonneur of Lier. He studied at the Koninklijke Beiaardschool 'Jef Denyn' in Mechelen and at the Luca School of Arts. He obtained his Master of Music in carillon and music education with the highest distinction. A year later, he was the very first carillonneur to graduate with an Master of Music in chamber music, also with the highest distinction. In 2019, he won the second prize in the Internationale Beiaardwedstrijd Koningin Fabiola in Mechelen. He teaches at the Carillon School in Mechelen. Since this year, he is also the chairman of the Vlaamse Beiaardvereniging. This carillon concert is part of the festive program ‘Vlaanderen Feest’. From June 26 to July 11, we celebrate the Feast of the Vlaamse Gemeenschap with a free and varied program of activities.
