The film follows Jep Gambardella, a 65-year-old writer and socialite in Rome. He once wrote one successful novel, but has since led a life full of parties, luxury, art circles, and superficial conversations. After his birthday and an unexpected confrontation with the past, he begins to reconsider his life.
A quintessential Italian film with stunning images of ‘the eternal city’. The film obtained, among others, the award for best foreign film, the Golden Globe, best director, actor, and editing.
Met Toni Servillo, Carlo Verdone, Sabrina Ferilli, Isabella Ferrari, Carlo Buccirosso and others.
\"Servillo is a gifted actor who seems to be able to move almost every nerve in his face separately. (...) La grande bellezza is considered the La dolce vita for the 21st century\"
