Predikheerlijke Summer: Beyond Brazilian Stories

Driven by a vibrant and irresistible energy, Beyond Brazilian Stories takes you on a musical journey through Brazilian traditions and jazz explorations. It all started with an inspiring meeting between pianist Mathieu Bélis and bassist Stéphane Dardour, who had both been introduced to the richness of Brazilian music by Philippe Baden Powell. From this meeting, the project Brazilian Stories was born. The group expanded quickly with the arrival of saxophonist David Florsch, drummer Louis Bao Lao and Äulne, singer and flutist. Together they reinterpret the masterpieces of greats such as Milton Nascimento, Airto Moreira, Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Dorival Caymmi, Edu Lobo and Moacir Santos, merging popular melodies with immersive instrumental passages. But the project goes much further than a tribute: the quintet also composes its own pieces, drawing from this Brazilian energy to create a universe that is both authentic and innovative.
