Theaterspecial
Het Eurovisiesongfestival
is the World Cup of pop music. With fuss, tension, noise, and appetizers. And with
10 million supporting Belgians who all know it much better...
Het Eurovisiesongfestival
is also a matter of national interest. Because our participation is paid for with our
tax money. So politics also dares to interfere. With parliamentary
questions and all.
Het Eurovisiesongfestival
is hotter than ever. Simultaneously cult and ultra-popular. As a finalist, you can
today even stand on Rock Werchter of Pukkelpop. That was until
recently unthinkable.
Time for an ode to the
phenomenon. Belpop Bonanza presents a special about the Belgians and the
Eurovision Song Contest. The VRT is by the way back at it in 2027.
Ideal, therefore. And we are of course going to win again!
There has of course already been much
told about the festival. There even exist thick books about the Belgian
entries alone. But then you might not know Jan Delvaux and Jimmy Dewit
yet. They naturally sink their teeth
into 70 finals, 40 semi-finals, countless preliminary rounds, and our participations in the
Junior Eurovisiesongfestival. But they especially come up with the
results of significant original research. The two give answers to
pressing questions such as:
- was ABBA actually
ever in Waterloo?
- which Belgian entry
received the MIA for Hit of the Year in 2017?
- who is Jennifer Jennings?
- who has never given our country
points?
- why does Gustaph
always wear a hat?
- what is the connection between Pink
Floyd and Ann Christy?
- why was Ben Crabbé
not allowed to go to the final in 1983?
- what is the last
Dutch-language song that participated?
- who were the soldiers of Liliane
Saint-Pierre?
- which group wanted to
finish last in 1980?
- who is in love with Sandra
Kim?
ABOUT BELPOP BONANZA
Belpop

(a.k.a. DJ Bobby Ewing) bring stories about the most beautiful moments from the
national music history. With knowledge of matters and with the necessary winks.
ABOUT THE MAKERS
Jan
Delvaux (°1962) fell at a young age into a vat with stories about
Belgian pop music. Volgens Bart
Peeters he knows more about Belpop than Wikipedia.
Jimmy
Dewit (°1971) is a music maker, music selector, and music talker. He
makes soundtracks and spins records as DJ
Bobby Ewing and with Discobar Galaxie.
