Our imagination is boundless. Sometimes it takes us to wonderful places; other times it drags us into a dark spiral. Do we find protection and security in our own imagination, or does it lead us deeper into confusion or frightening thoughts? In Grip, a dancer engages in a dialogue with the set. Together, they create a landscape in which balance, control and surrender are in a constant state of flux. Through colours, shadows and movement, the performance shows just how powerful our thoughts can be. Sometimes they make us feel stronger; sometimes they make us falter. About Carli Gellings Carli Gellings graduated as a dancer from Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg in 2015. Since then, she has been active as a dancer and creator in the works of others, in collaborative projects and in her own creations. The questions that occupy her mind in everyday life are the driving force behind her work. The aim is not to answer them, but to make room for wonder, recognition or new perspectives. Fascinated by the human condition, she explores the movements within and beyond ourselves. Every creation is a shared journey, a collaborative endeavour that can only come about through dialogue and cooperation with others. Carli worked as a creator and performer with organisations such as fABULEUS, De Spiegel, LAP vzw, Collectief Elan(d) and her own company, Batmat, with which she performed at 30CC on several occasions.
