Sinte-Mette animal blessing and horse procession

According to annual tradition, Hoembeka is organizing a Sinte-Mette party again this year on Sunday, November 8, 2026, with an animal blessing and horse procession. Gathering of the horses, riders, carriages, and wagons, and of other animals as usual in the Diepestraat up to the footpath to the church. This from 11:30 AM. After the animal blessing at the entrance of the church - from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM – the horse procession departs, with Saint Martin in the lead, along the Sint-Martinusstraat, Statonsplein, Kriekerijveld, Schippersweg, Bosbesstraat, Moerbeistraat, Kapelseweg, Hombekerkouter, Carmosteynstraat, Locquetstraat, Hombekerkouter, and via the Sint-Martinusstraat back to the parking lot at the church. A memento of the blessing is provided for every participant. A drink will be offered to all those present by Hoembeka. Upon the dissolution of the horse procession, a sandwich will also be offered to the riders and the horses. Definitely note this date of Sunday, November 8, 2026, in your agenda.
