Tramlijn Begeerte is a top classic from the Amerikaanse Realisme, and established Marlon Brando's name as one of the greatest actors of the so-called method acting school, where the actor completely immerses himself in his character. It tackles some of the most unpleasant social and psychological themes: Narcissism, alcohol addiction, domestic violence, and rape. Yet it is one of the most performed and beloved pieces in the theater. Precisely because it is so truthful.
