Cyprus, the marvelous island of Aphrodite, goddess of love, occupies a strategic position in the heart of the Mediterranean. It has been invaded by the Persians, Egyptians, Romans, French Crusaders, Venetians, Genoese, Turks, and British, all of whom have left remarkable traces of their passage, such as the ruins of Kourion or Salamis, but also a terrible scar: the Attila Line, which divides the country and its capital, Lefkosia (Nicosia), in two.
