In My Body as a Commodity, theater maker Anne-Laure Vandeputte takes you on a sizzling musical trip that explores the boundaries of fiction.
To the rhythm of the energetic live percussion of Andrew Van Ostade, a raw monologue-on-beats unfolds.
Vandeputte investigates in which narratives our bodies are - consciously or unconsciously - inscribed. Along the way, she crosses a director who wants to talk about ‘strong women’, a man who wonders if he is part of the show, and a sex worker in Berlin whom she bombards into her personal Jesus.
The result is a provocative and confrontational performance that questions power, identity, and physicality. Your trauma has a beat!
