The French painter, sculptor and performer born in 1959 in Brazzaville (Congo), is renowned for his performances exploring disfigurement and identity to metamorphose his own body. In the continuity of the iconic performance Transfiguration, two people sculpt clay on their heads, bury themselves in it, erase their identity and become living works, metamorphosing with the body of the other, creating dialogue, fusion, rivalry and love. In a fascinating, expressive and total performance, they change identity on stage, going from man to animal and from animal to various hybrid creatures. Painting and sculpting oneself becomes a form of ritual on the border of dance and trance, where improvisation is the matrix. Stunning.
