Backrooms (2026), directed by twenty-year-old Kane Parsons, is a powerful psychological horror film. Based on his viral YouTube universe, it is a claustrophobic and visually stunning experience that develops a simple concept into one of A24's most successful box office hits. When furniture salesman Clark discovers a hidden portal in the basement of his store, he becomes trapped in another reality, the so-called "backrooms." His therapist tries to save him and discovers a mysterious labyrinth of abandoned office spaces that not only seem infinite but are also constantly changing. As time fades, something inhuman also appears to be lurking just out of sight.
