Orgelconcert Michael De Geest (Ghent)

Michael De Geest is the son of pianist Monique Lanszweert and organist Edward De Geest, honorary titular organist of the Gentse Sint-Bavo Cathedral. He obtained his degrees as a licentiate and educational master in computer science at Ghent University, and his bachelor's degree in organ at the Conservatorium Gent. In addition, he followed masterclasses in organ with Serge Schoonbroodt, Helga Schauerte, and Liuwe Tamminga. Michael is an organ teacher at the arts high school in Brussels and has already given recitals in numerous European countries and in Japan. In a chamber music context, he performs with oboist Dagmar Robben, his wife. In addition, he is active daily as a director of the symphony orchestra Lumen Symphonicum, which is conducted by his brother David De Geest. In 2022, Michael was appointed titular organist of the Carmelite Church in Bruges, succeeding the renowned Chris Dubois. In June 2023, he was honored by the city of Eeklo as a meritorious Eeklo citizen because of his artistic achievements. With work by, among others, G. Böhm, J.S. Bach, C. Dubois, F. Peeters, and O.
