A moving and humorous duet about balancing between dreams, memories, and being on the road. recognizable – moving – humorous – tender - visual Two people. A woman and a man. In the middle of life. Too old to be young anymore. Too young to accept that nothing is possible anymore and nothing is necessary anymore. Surplace. Like in cycling: balancing with your feet on the pedals, you are in full motion but you are no longer moving forward. Mieke Laureys (Johnny MUS) and Danny Ronaldo (Circus Ronaldo) take stock together. They have known and appreciated each other for years, sharing their love for the small stories behind the person. Their meeting on stage is a duet of tenderness, humor, and recognition. Live music of accordion and flute weaves through their playing, comfortingly lifting memories or lighting the fire again. Surplace is not a performance about being old, but about the road to it. About balancing between yesterday and tomorrow, between melancholy and desire, between dreams and reality. About the illusion that you can plan life and mold it to your will, and the realization that aging cannot be directed after all. An ode to being on the road, to the art of letting go, to the game of life itself.
