Based on the award-winning book by Annet Schaap. A show full of puppet violence, acting talent, live music, and video for everyone from 9 years old. Awarded the Boze Wolf Festival prize for best puppet theater show of 2025. Theater FroeFroe and Johnny MUS were completely blown away by this brilliant story. Lampje is an adventure novel with an amazing heroine, but it is also an atmospheric and poetic contemporary fairy tale. Lampje is full of wonderful characters that make the book a source of inspiration for every visual artist. Lampje is a story about fathers, friendship, and being allowed to be who you are. Lampje lives with her father in a lighthouse. Her father is a lighthouse keeper, he only has one leg and is a drunkard. Lampje regularly has to help keep the lighthouse burning. On a stormy day, things go wrong: the lamp is not burning, father was drunk again. A ship crashes against the rocks and the municipality wants measures. Lampje is taken from her home. She is placed, for her own good, away from her father, in the Zwarte Huis. Het Zwarte Huis is a castle owned by a sea captain. No one wants to work there because a monster lives there. Maar Lampje does not believe in monsters. Annet Schaap is a tough illustrator. In 2017 she wrote her first own youth book Lampje. She won all Dutch-language literary prizes with it, including the Gouden Griffel, the Boekenleeuw, and also the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs. Lampje immediately became a classic. The book has already been translated into more than 25 languages worldwide. This is a co-production of Theater FroeFroe and Johnny MUS. After “Gitte”, Mieke Laureys and Marc Maillard are once again tackling a giant of youth literature. They are adapting the book into a show in which image and theater wonderfully lift each other up.
