Today we venture on a longer bird-watching bike ride and cycle along the kilometers-long dikes of the Western Scheldt and the Eastern Scheldt. There we aim our binoculars at the thousands of water birds and waders that look for food on the wide mudflats at low tide. The eye-catchers of the day will undoubtedly be the many dozens of seals, which rest on the wide mudflats of Valkenisse.
To be able to see all that beauty, we have to brave 10 km of Scheldelaan during the trip to and from Lillo. We picnic in a quiet place along the banks of the Western Scheldt, after the afternoon we make a short stop at a tavern for a refreshing drink.
The total cycling distance is approximately 60 km. If you have an electric bike, be sure to keep in mind to leave with a charged battery. Also keep in mind that it can be windy along the dikes.
Bring: binoculars, camera, picnic, plenty of drink, appropriate clothing.
Payment on the Waterbus can be done via a 10-trip card or with bank card. For the trip there and back you pay 4 trips. The number of participants is limited to 15 participants, so report your participation in advance: info@natuurpuntrupelstreek.be
