Commentaar
Deze melancholic road movie about regret, forgiveness, and the longing for humanity is considered one of Bergman's most accessible and moving works. A very human masterpiece, full of iconic images, which was showered with awards, including the Gouden Beer at the Filmfestival van Berlijn. Lead actor Victor Sjöström, himself a renowned film director, also won awards there for his brilliant portrayal of Isak Borg. It became his last film role, a farewell that counts.
