Saxophonist and composer Sam Comerford (Lander Gyselinck & Zwangere Guy, Kris Defoort Quartet) presents a new quartet, with the tingling fresh album ‘heaven’ under his arm, with which he honors the legacy of fiddle player Tommie Potts and winks at Ornette Coleman. Met Thunderblender already broke pots in the Ierse Brusselaar together with pianist Hendrik Lasure and drummer Jens Bouttery, for this project he adds fiddle player Ultan O’Brien to the line-up. In the collective Adjunct Ensemble, composer and producer Jamie Thompson uses radical free jazz and creative visuals to denounce the boundless growth compulsion of capitalism. And the solo show of fiddle player Ultan O’Brien is drenched in centuries-old traditions, but with his intuitive impro-style, full of atmospheric ambient and experimental electronics, this evening of resistance looks confidently to the future.
