Tenor
Thomas Blondelle and the Ryelandt Trio go in search of the romantic in Ludwig
van Beethoven.
Short loves, lifelong adorations, rejections, and stormy infatuations: his letters show a human of flesh and blood, for whom a happy love life was not self-evident.
Who did he call ‘Mijn Engel, my everything, my me’? Who was his ‘unsterbliche Geliebte‘? And who was the mysterious ‘Elise’?
For this program, the Bruges musicians made a selection from songs, letters, and chamber music by Beethoven, who died 200 years ago. Thomas Blondelle crawls into the skin of Ludwig and sings himself through his amorous life path.
