On the 2026 vision days, we head out into the field with the management team to explore management themes together with experts, area specialists, management teams, and volunteers. In 2026, we will encounter both young and old forests, completed development works, and planned implementation projects, as well as dry nutrient-poor grasslands. Everyone who wants to think along about nature management and landscape vision is welcome . 25 years ago, there were still sugar beets, grain, and corn on the highly erosion-prone and stony slopes of the Schoorbroekbeek. Detention basin after detention basin was supposed to manage the flooding. That was until the local core of Natuurpunt put its shoulders to the Rosdel project and, above all, dug its heels in against the major land consolidation in full development, for which no space for nature development was initially provided. Rosdel would grow into one of the first nature development areas within the land consolidation in Flanders. Now, 25 years later, the results are impressive: restoration of species- and structure-rich slope grasslands, shrub-rich terraces, and forest reinforcement. The grasslands are now very flower-rich and, in addition to various orchids, also harbor numerous wild bees, butterflies, and badgers. Rosdel has been declared one of the 5 bee reserves in Flanders. Rosdel is a string of names such as Beukendal, Meiveld, Blinde Ezel, Aalst, Preekstoel, Schoor, Katerspoel, and Huttenveld… anyone who wants to get to know or understand Rosdel better should be there for the field exploration.
