Big Jump

Sun, 12 Jul 2026 · 14:30
Keerdok Mechelen, Mechelen
Free
On Sunday, July 13, hundreds of nature lovers, sports enthusiasts, and environmentally conscious residents will participate in the Big Jump 2025. This annual event, which takes place throughout Europe, calls for attention to clean water and the importance of healthy rivers, lakes, and streams. In Mechelen, too, we gather at the Keerdok at exactly 3:00 PM to make a symbolic jump into the water, organized by Natuurpunt Mechels Rivierengebied - core Mechelen, Stad Mechelen and the non-profit organization GoodPlanet Belgium. De Big Jump is an initiative that has been organized in various countries since 2002 to increase awareness around water quality. With this joint dive into open water, the participants call on policymakers and citizens to actively commit to clean and healthy water. The action is a powerful signal for which we also need you. So come jump for spring-alive water. Everyone can participate in the Big Jump. Whether you are young or old, an experienced swimmer or a beginner, the most important thing is your commitment to work for a clean and livable water environment. Participants are asked to be present at the Keerdok at 3 PM for a short introduction. Immediately after, the starting signal will sound and all participants will jump into the water at the same time.
