Sam Vloemans' Bord du Nord

Composer, musician, and producer Sam Vloemans presents his new album Bord du Nord II. After a first album in 2008, the project gets a new life with a haunting collection of compositions, performed by a dream lineup with Gwen Cresens (accordion/bandoneon), Dominique Vantomme (piano), and Lara Rosseel (double bass). Bord du Nord II is music to listen to with closed eyes. Each track is a miniature landscape in which the listener can get lost, a soundtrack for one's own cinematic moments. The trumpet of Vloemans weeps and sighs, the accordion of Cresens whispers stories, while the bass and piano form a bed of warm depth and fragile silence. The album is a pure ode to the power of vulnerability. The project originated in 2008 after an inspiring stay by Vloemans in Paris and his meeting with Gwen Cresens. Throughout the years, and between countless other projects, the composer has continued to write for Bord du Nord. Today, that creative journey culminates in a new album, on which the duo is strengthened by the subtle keys of Dominique Vantomme and the deep, earthy sound of Lara Rosseel. The broad background of the group members ensures a unique and organic mix of jazz, chanson, tango, klezmer, and classical influences.
