Day trip TONGEREN-BORGLOON City walk - Visit to Gallo-Romeins Museum Saturday, JUNE 20, 2026 Beste Davidsfonds-friends, On Saturday, June 20 next , Davidsfonds Beerse is organizing a day trip to the first, and oldest, city in Belgium, namely Tongeren. Since 2025, this city has merged with Borgloon and we now speak of Tongeren-Borgloon. On the program is a city walk through this beautiful city and a visit to the Gallo-Romeins Museum. The city walk starts at 10:00 AM at the Grote Markt. Together with an experienced guide, we will walk for about two hours along the cultural highlights of Tongeren: the Grote Markt with the statue of Ambiorix, the Gothic Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek, the unique beguinage with its narrow streets and cozy squares, the beguinage church, the Agneten monastery, the Moerenpoort, and the medieval walls. At 12:00 PM we are expected in Grand Café De Casque for a tasty lunch . This consists of a main course and dessert ( including 2 drinks ) and always contains two choices. After lunch, we will be treated to a visit to the Gallo-Romeins Museum . This tour starts at 2:00 PM . For +/- 1.5 hours, we will take a journey through time from Neanderthal to Gallo-Roman. The permanent expo of the Gallo-Romeins Museum tells the story of humans in the Limburg region: from prehistory to the end of the Roman era. With 2000 atmospherically lit objects, lifelike figures, animations, models, and educational films, the distant past will never let you go! Guaranteed a fun and educational visit. We offer you all this for the price of 70 € for members and 80 € for non-members . Holders of a museum pass pay 8 euros less , but must mention this when registering.
