An immersive music theater performance on location around a life-sized whale with a local ad-hoc choir! A village in the future. On a piece of land surrounded by the sea, where people have been fighting against the water for generations, city walls and watchtowers completely separate the inhabitants from the water around them. Everything that is wet is forbidden. Every morning, the sea is spat upon and cursed, and anyone who has anything to do with water is punished. Only the child who once washed up in a plastic bag and the Magniebinnenmens seem to never want to fall into line. One night, a gigantic creature washes up in this place. A naked-slug-like monster with wings and a breath that makes the ground tremble. And above all: WET. THE EXPLODING WHALE MUSICAL explores our relationship to water and to everything that lives in it. A story about the big questions of today, but above all brutal, poetic, and funny - with a nod to everything a musical can be.
