Shakespeare praised her ability to enrapture the human spirit, Thomas Mace called her 'noble and heroic', and others praised the lute for its intimate melancholic sound. One thing is clear: this small instrument has a lot in store musically. And by the way, small? Not necessarily, some lutes are two meters long! In preparation for the concert Pour la luth / with two Klara Twintigers on February 28, BachPlus organizes this lecture-performance. Koen Uvin takes you into the fascinating world of the lute and its numerous variants and tells about the origin, construction, and its rich repertoire. Nathalie Fransen and Wido Uvin, both teachers at the Academy for Podiumkunsten Utopia Aalst, provide live music on renaissance lute, archlute, and theorbo. Tristan Driessens plays the oud.
