Guided walk on the Via Limburgica (7th stage Bergilers - Lens St.-Servais)

This spring we already walked the sixth stage of the Via Limburgica, from Tongeren to Bergilers (Oreye). In the autumn we will continue the route from Bergilers to Lens-Saint-Servais. Today we will continue to follow the valley of the Jeker (Geer). We cross Lantremange, a sub-municipality of Waremme, and arrive in Oleye. We walk further to Waremme (Borgworm: ‘worm’ was the old name of the river Jeker), where after about 8.5 kilometers we leave the route for a while for a break in a catering establishment in the center. Afterwards we leave Waremme, the city of the former socialist prime minister Edmond Leburton (1915-1997). We pick up the official route again just after the railway viaduct, in the vicinity of the impressive Château Sélys-Longchamps. Finally, we cross Petit-Axhe, Hollogne-sur-Geer and Geer in succession to reach our final destination: the Saint-Servais church in Lens-Saint-Servais. Programma Om 9.30 a.m. we gather at the parking lot near the church of Saint-Servais in the Rue Communale 1-3 in Geer. (Plus code: M563+W2 Geer). At 9.40 a.m. sharp we leave with a few cars to bring all participants to our starting point of the walk, the parking lot in the Rue Louis Maréchal, in Bergilers/Oreye (Plus code: P88J+G2 Oerle) At 10.00 a.m. we start our walk. From 12.30 p.m. to 1.15 p.m. we take a break in a catering establishment in 4300 Waremme. Around 4.30 p.m. we arrive after approx. 19 km at the parking lot near the church of Saint-Servais in the Rue Communale 1-3 in 4250 in Geer. (Plus code: M563+W2 Geer).
