Herman Van Hove & Lissa Meyvis - In the shadow of Toon Hermans

€18–22
A warm-hearted Flemish homage to the greatest Dutch entertainer, folk poet, and philosopher of the joy of life. Herman Van Hove tells about his wonderful experiences backstage and at the kitchen table as the last manager and friend of Toon Hermans. Herman tells what it was like to work with Toon, perfectionist and hypochondriac, in his old age still boundlessly ambitious, but also filled with a ‘blissful melancholy’. Lissa Meyvis, an angelic appearance with a voice as fine and fragile as crystal, breathes new, young life into the songs of Herman, a reflection of the innocence and cheerfulness that the master himself held in such high regard. But also of the love and emotion that drove him. Lissa sings the songs that Toon himself thought were his most beautiful. The performance has already played 115 times in Flanders and the Netherlands, was in a raving, enthusiastic, and moved Theater Carré, the temple of Toon, and was buried under the rave reviews of press and audience. Hundreds of cheering comments from press and audience in the guestbook on www.deschaduwvantoon.be. Concept and direction: Herman Van Hove
