Visit to the detention house of Kortrijk

A detention house is a small-scale, closed institution with a capacity of 20 to 60 detainees. It provides shelter to persons with a prison sentence of a maximum of 3 years and a low security risk. Detainees are better prepared for life after their sentence: from day one, there is customized guidance to prepare their reintegration into society as well as possible and to limit the chance of recidivism. In a small group, we will visit the detention house of Kortrijk. We will receive an explanation about the vision and philosophy of a detention house, the link with the neighborhood, and the daily operation. Afterward, a tour of the building follows.
