‘Bergen’ plays instrumental music that is sometimes described as post-rock, but which they themselves prefer to call cinematic, wordless songs, which are told layer by layer. The epic power of their music is very strong and therefore actually screams for a story. Wim Chielens wrote a story about a perilous train journey between Poperinge and Bergen, sometimes absurd, occasionally hilarious, and also a bit moving and touching. In this performance, the music of Bergen is allowed to stand prominently; the story, which Wim tells himself, wants to support the wordless songs and make them come into their own even more strongly.
