ÉMEUTE is a choreographic and sound piece for 2 performers against a backdrop of eggshells. ÉMEUTE derives etymologically from "émouvoir" (to move), from the Latin "ex movere" which means "to set in motion". Historically, in the Middle Ages, an "esmote" referred to a collective emotion, a spontaneous popular uprising. Starting from the material "Egg", this performance proposes a reflection on the themes of fragility, responsibility, transformation, and the power of actions. It is about gathering to rise together to create an imaginary crowd for 2, to riot for 2. On a bi-frontal stage, Thi Mai Nguyen, a dancer with a magnetic presence, and Marion Faure, a DJ and sound creator on stage, powerfully summon the affects of resistance to bring us together around what drives our collective movements.
