Spoorwegbatterij E687 Lissewege

Sun, 13 Sept 2026 · 10:00
Spoorwegbatterij E687 Lissewege, Koolkerke
Free
An impressive remnant of the Atlantikwall Midden in a field in Lissewege, a few bunkers are scattered, concrete witnesses of a military past. What you see now is already impressive, but what once stood here was much larger: an extensive division of the coastal defense of the Derde Rijk. Discover the story of the German railway battery that was active here during the Tweede Wereldoorlog. Our guides will take you across the meadow, past the remains of bunkers, ammunition depots, and old train tracks. With archival documents and historical photos, we bring this enigmatic place to life — as if time stands still for a moment. Practical info: Visit with a guide, by reservation. Reservations start on September 2 at 7:30 PM via the link next to this. The bunker site is located in an agricultural area and is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Appropriate footwear is recommended. Parking (cars and bicycles) is only possible on the designated area at the intersection of Patentestraat and Canadezenstraat. Also open for visits on Saturday, September 12, between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Accessibility: This tour is in a cultivated agricultural field and is therefore not suitable for people with limited mobility.
