“Pianists and guitarists do not always go together well”, says top pianist Eric Legnini. Often there is even a kind of rivalry in the air between these two popular instruments, these two mini-orchestras in themselves. But in his case, “the relations are quite good”, even if he is a “bad guitarist”, he confesses with a loud laugh. That can also hardly be otherwise, because Legnini grows up with a father who is a fan of Django Reinhardt: \"There were always a few sounding in the house\", he remembers. Gradually he meets some of the best guitarists, such as Philip Catherine, mainstay of Plat Pays, or legend Toots Thielemans, besides harmonica player also a capable guitarist. With ‘Six Strings Under’, the pianist lays down a kind of love declaration to this instrument that has touched him his whole life. But not only that: besides a wink to the famous series ‘Six Feet Under’, of which he is a fan, this album marks a return to acoustic and instrumental formats, two areas he left for a few years to concentrate on more electric and vocal-guest-filled projects: the trilogy ‘The Vox’, ‘Sing Twice!’, and ‘Waxx Up’ (with Hugh Coltman).
