Het Marum - Autumn

Het Marum (± 315 ha) is the northernmost part of the Groot Schietveld. It became a military domain as early as 1890. Due to the long military use, the historical stream valley landscape in the Marum has been largely preserved and traces of land use from the early Middle Ages to the present can be found. Nature has also benefited from this: heathland and nutrient-poor grasslands that were once common in the Kempen have been preserved in the Marum, and a number of important animal and plant species associated with this still occur there. Het Marum has only been limitedly accessible since 2010(*) and is kept deliberately low-key because of the high natural values in the area. During this walk, we will pay attention to autumn in the forest but also to Het Marum in general. Useful information: Appropriate shoes or boots recommended, possibly binoculars.
