Since last autumn, you can visit a new temporary exhibition in the Tobacco Museum about tobacco and cycling, once inextricably linked – today an unthinkable combination. The mini-expo reveals the forgotten story of tobacco sponsorship in cycling, from pipe races to iconic jerseys. The rich collection of the Wervik collector Kris Mahieu made the team behind the expo, led by born Wervikaan and cycling fanatic Bo Decramer, open Pandora's box. It eventually led them to a network of passionate cycling collectors – deep into the Netherlands – who happily lent their unique items.
Van Filter to Finish is more than an expo. It is an immersive journey through time past cycling heroes, cunning marketing tricks, and the role of tobacco in our sports history. And with a spectacular ‘floating peloton’ by artist Wouter Cox, the expo even got an artistic touch.
Discover this new mini-expo and let yourself be taken in tow by curator Bo Decramer with a guided tour, interspersed with fun facts and playful anecdotes.
