EEUWENHOUT AND BEGAEGEL - DRANOUTER - 6.9 KM Between 1980 and 2021, the former forester Pierre Hubau was able to purchase just under 74 hectares of land in the Eeuwenhout and the Douve Valley. Het Agentschap for Nature and Forest rolled up the barbed wire so that hedges could grow freely into rugged thickets. Through grazing with cattle and sheep, the typical modern sharp plot boundaries between forest and grassland faded, and the closed forest could grow into new, semi-open structures. In this way, the hedgerows and rough herbs can develop well and grow into insect- and bird-rich biotopes. SUMMER TOURS 2026 General Summer Tours is an organization of Natuurpunt De Bron and partners.
