We follow April and Frank Wheeler, an apparently ideal couple. They have a house, two children, a steady job, and a future that looks perfect on paper. At the same time, they dream of a life that is bigger than the corset of the suburbs. Their plan to leave everything behind and start over in Paris must save them from suffocating conformism. But when reality catches up with them, their dream crumbles. What started as a shared hope for freedom turns into reproach, powerlessness, and a destructive struggle in which love barely holds up. After ‘Infidèles’ (2018) by Ingmar Bergman, tg STAN and De Roovers continue their research into human failure with the stage adaptation of Richard Yates’ novel ‘Revolutionary Road’ (1961). Two generations of actors who have a penchant for text attack each other with razor-sharp dialogues.
